A group of our year 9 students visited The Big Bang science fair at Manchester Central. What a great day. We went to see a super show by the presenters of the BBC show Bang Goes the Theory – watching a 1 million vault bolt of lightening!!

The rest of the day was spent wandering around the exhibitions – one of the highlights was the BAE system robot.
Billy O’Brien, Kurtis Gould, Sam Delargy and Michael Conn stepped up to the mike and when the robot asked which school we came from, he asked did we know Mrs. Morton as she was his dance partner – the Morton Moonwalk that he did was amazing and we can’t wait to see it in real life during an assembly some time.
He also seemed to be good friends with Mr. Burns and Mr. Cauldwell!!

Here’s what some of year 9 thought about the day;
Shamima Akhtar "I liked the talking robot, that was funny. It knew Mrs. Morton and it showed us how she danced!"
Kayleigh Taylor "I liked the coffee car which had travelled from London to Manchester fuelled by coffee beans – the day was great fun."
Chantelle Milne "I liked the talking robot because I found it amazing that he knew our Headteacher, remembered names and seemed very smart."
Billy O’Brien "Today was quality, it was great fun to mess about with all of the weird things." Kurtis Gould "today was very funny. I liked the robot best because anything you asked him he would answer and he also danced. I liked the show when we saw all of the electricity experiments. There was loads to do, all different activities. It was definitely the best school trip I have been on."
Michael Conn "Today was fun. The best part was the robot when he did the Morton moonwalk."
Leigh-Anne Johnston "I think today was great. There were a lot of different activities which I tried out and to be honest most of them were pretty good. We all loved the robot as he knew our names, including Mrs. Morton and he seemed to know a lot of things about us. I’d go again if I could, it was a lot of fun."
The final word goes to Mr. Owen who won the competition to get the most free gifts!!
"Today was top, days out in town are always good, especially in legendary buildings like the G-mex with a great view of the Hilton. There was loads of fun stuff to enjoy like making slime, flying planes and loads of free goodies and prizes. I was just impressed with getting the fastest time EVER in the building pipe challenge!!"
