Jamie clears the board

RRS Student Jamie Walker made his mark last year in the UKYP elections and came back fighting this year to win with a massive 1800 votes with RRS' other candidate Andy Miller picking up an impressive 315 votes (well done Andy). Andy hopes to be a Labour councilor  next year.

15-year-old Jamie can now fight for young people as the Bury candidate in the UK Youth Parliament and well deserved it is too.

Jamie is campaigning for better and cheaper services for young people and to keep the youth service under the control of Bury Council. He also wants to promote a positive image of young people.

UKYP Vote 2010

A democratic society is one where the will of the people can decide their future path and that was evident at Radcliffe Riverside School yesterday as pupils took to the polls in the United Kingdom Youth Parliament elections. The day took on greater importance as this year the school fielded not one but two candidates, Andy Miller Y10 and Jamie Walker Y9. Jamie took the stand for a second year running and came fourth last year with an impressive 700 votes - narrowly missing out on the Deputy position. Best of luck to you both boys! Below - a few pics from the day - click to enlarge

Rotary Young Chef Final

Radcliffe Riverside School was proud to host the Rotary Young Chef Final in our Food Tech Department. RRS Prefects swung into action to ensure the day passed smoothly - and that it did! The competition was very close run and our own Students, Claudia and Phillip put up a brave effort creating some amazing dishes! Both were rewarded with a commendation receiving certificates and trophies. (see pics inside). Big well done to Jack from Helsby High School who was a very worthy winner of 1st place with Aisha from the Radclyffe School in Chadderton scooping 2nd prize. Many thanks as always to our friends at the Rotary Club. See inside for more. Full reports coming on BBC News day :o)
